The No1 DH Stalker - Big Steve!
There is a fine line between being a fan and being a fanatic (have I crossed it yet?)
Introduce yourself... I'm Big Steve, all round cuddly guy and music lover
What is it that attracts you to the bands music? Who would you compare them to (influences etc)? I think that they have crafted some very well thought out songs, with some great hooks. Also they enjoy what they are doing when they are on stage. That's one of the main reasons to see live music. If you want it to sound exactly the same as the record, buy the record, stay at home and stop bloody whining that "it's not the same as the record" Major influences, I guess would be Killing Joke, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Joy Division, Gary Numan.
What music do you generally listen to? Lots of different styles of music, but none of it really mainstream. Anything from metal to electronic, psychobilly to industrial, usually (but not always) played very loud. Anything by Killing Joke, Rammstein or The Cramps
What are your fave DH songs, and least fave songs? Haven't got a least fave one, I like them all. But the songs that mean the most to me are ‘Days I Despize’ (the lyrics meant such a lot to me at a very important and difficult point in my life, the person involved knows what I mean) and Dorian Gray (for a very special person who means everything to me).
Anything else you want to add...about DH, or anything!!? To DH - keep gigging, do more gigging, and then more gigging. To everyone else out there, stop saying "oh I wish I'd come and seen you" or " I was going to come, but ..." and get off your asses and go see them live. They are one of the best live bands out there. I've seen well over 250 different live acts in my time, so I think I know what I'm talking about. They can blow a lot of big name acts off the stage.
How long have you known DH? About 20 years
Smooth or crunchy? Definately crunchy!!
How many DH gigs have you been to? Fave gig so far?? Since they've been a 2 piece, most of them (only missed a couple of gigs 'cos I was going to see Motorhead and Slipknot, and once 'cos it was my wedding anniversary). Haven't got a fave gig in particlar, but the sound quality at The Twist (Colchester) was brilliant.
